Prop & Weapons Policy
Guidelines for bringing props and costume accessories to ACGN EXPO 2025.
Overview
At ACGN EXPO, we love seeing the creativity our community brings through cosplay and props. To help everyone enjoy a fun and safe event, ACGN Exposition Inc. requires all attendees to follow this Prop & Weapons Policy. The following guidelines apply to all attendees, guests, and exhibitors entering the convention venue with costume props or weapon-like items.
General Guidelines
1. Prohibited Items
Live firearms, real bladed weapons, and functioning projectile weapons of any kind (including airsoft, paintball, and slingshots) are not permitted under any circumstances. This applies regardless of whether the weapon is operational or deactivated.
2. Realism & Appearance
Props must not closely resemble real weapons. Any item that could reasonably cause alarm to the public, security, or law enforcement may be denied entry. Think safety first — if it could be mistaken for a real weapon outside the convention, leave it at home.
3. Prop Materials
Props must be made from non-hazardous materials such as:
- EVA foam or craft foam
- Lightweight plastics or PVC
- Cardboard or papier-mâché
- Lightweight wood (e.g., balsa or dowels)
Heavy metal props, glass, sharp edges, or breakable ceramic components are strictly prohibited.
4. Prop Check & Inspection
All props must be inspected at the Prop Check Station before entering the event space. Once approved, your prop will receive a visible tag or marker. Unauthorized props may be held at the Prop Check Station and returned to you upon exiting.
Specific Rules
Firearm Replicas
- Allowed only if clearly non-functional and easily distinguishable as a toy or costume item.
- Must have an orange tip or be brightly colored.
- May not make realistic firing sounds or eject any objects.
- Carry your prop safely and avoid brandishing or pointing it at others.
Bladed Props
- Metal blades, sharpened edges, and live steel are not allowed, regardless of whether they are sheathed or dulled.
- Foam swords, plastic daggers, and safe cosplay replicas are generally acceptable upon inspection.
- Staff will evaluate blunt props (e.g., bats, hammers) on a case-by-case basis for weight and risk of injury.
Bows & Arrows
- Prop bows are permitted and may be strung for photos.
- Do not draw (pull back) the bowstring at any time inside the venue.
- Arrows must be non-functional and have soft, safe tips. No sharp or metal ends allowed.
Large Props
- Oversized or extended props are permitted, but must not obstruct pathways or create a safety hazard.
- If crowd conditions make your prop unsafe, staff may ask you to temporarily store or remove it.
On-Site Behavior
- Do not engage in mock fights, swinging, or aiming props at others.
- Use props responsibly and avoid sudden movements that may startle other attendees or staff.
- Keep props under control at all times.
- Staff may issue warnings or revoke badges if prop use is deemed unsafe or disruptive.
Enforcement & Compliance
- ACGN EXPO staff and security have the right to deny entry or remove any prop at their discretion.
- Props may be disapproved or confiscated if they violate policy or create a safety issue.
- Refusal to comply with this policy or staff directions may result in badge revocation and removal from the event.
Final Notes
We want everyone at ACGN EXPO to express themselves through cosplay while ensuring the safety and comfort of all attendees. When in doubt, ask before bringing it in — we're happy to help clarify guidelines in advance.
